New Features in ShopSite 6.3
- Product Quantity Pricing
Products in ShopSite Pro stores can now be offered at different prices, depending on the quantity ordered by a customer. This allows merchants to give discounts for large-quantity orders.
- New Themes
ShopSite merchants can change the look of their store with two new store layout themes, both built entirely with custom templates. Merchants can easily apply the Tabbed Navigation theme and the Stained Glass theme to their stores, and ShopSite Partners and Designers can modify the themes as desired.
- XML Orders Download
Order information can be downloaded from ShopSite Pro and Manager stores in XML format.
- Lynk Systems Payment Processing
An interface to the Lynk Systems payment gateway for real-time credit card processing is built in to all ShopSite products.
- Authorize.Net eCheck
ShopSite now works with eCheck by Authorize.Net. When enabled by the merchant, customers can enter a bank routing number and account number, and Authorize.Net will withdraw funds from the checking account to pay for the order.
- Multiple Associate Landing Pages
ShopSite Pro merchants can specify alternate landing pages in their Associate URL's for the associates. The links given to associate sites can now redirect to targeted pages in the store for better merchandising.
- Merchant E-Mail Display Name
A descriptive name can now be associated with the merchant/store e-mail address. For example, instead of shoppers seeing From: orders@mystore.com on their receipts, they could see From: My Store Orders Department.
- Order Notification CC Addresses
Order notification e-mail can be cc'd to multiple additional e-mail addresses, such as to a warehouse or accounting department.
- E-Mail Error Enhancements
ShopSite now checks customer-supplied e-mail addresses for correct formatting, to reduce customer errors. If a customer-supplied e-mail address is formatted correctly but ShopSite encounters problems trying to send the receipt to the customer, ShopSite notifies the merchant of the problem. If there is a problem sending e-mail about an order to the merchant, the error messages are shown to the merchant when he/she views the order information.
- Sendmail or SMTP
ShopSite Partners can configure ShopSite on UNIX (Linux, Solaris, etc.) platforms to use either STMP or sendmail when sending e-mail.
- Optional One-Coupon-Per-Order Limit
ShopSite Pro merchants can limit customers to one coupon per order to prevent customers from applying multiple coupon discounts in a single order.
- JavaScript to help prevent duplicate orders
JavaScript scripts have been added to the checkout screen to disable the order submit button so that it can't be clicked twice, to help prevent duplicate orders.
- Selectable SureFire Transaction Type
Merchants can set the transaction type for new orders when using the SureFire payment gateway. Merchants selling digital download products may want to authorize and settle transactions when orders are placed.
- Merchant-Defined Order API Fields
Merchants can enter information in four fields that will be available to applications that use the ShopSite Order API. These fields can be used for account information or other information required by the application.
- Enhanced Credit Card Security
To help protect credit card information, only the last four digits of a credit card number are displayed to merchants if the transaction was processed through a real-time payment gateway.
- New Custom Template Tags
The following tags have been added for use in custom templates:
- [-- STORE.Email --] - The merchant's e-mail address.
- [-- PRODUCT.QuantityPricing --] - display a product's quantity pricing table.
New Features in ShopSite 6.2
- PayPal Payment Method
Merchants can let customers pay for purchases with PayPal, which means that merchants can accept credit card payments without having to have a merchant account. Merchants can also accept all other forms of PayPal payments. PayPal payment is available in ShopSite Pro, ShopSite Manager, and ShopSite Starter.
- Custom Checkout Fields
ShopSite Pro merchants can add text, HTML, and form fields to the checkout/shipping screen. Fields can be radio buttons, text, textarea, checkboxes, drop-down lists, hidden or password. ShopSite collects the customer-supplied information along with the rest of the order information, and includes it on the View Order screen and when orders are downloaded.
- New Custom Template Tags
New custom template tags return the store name, merchant's e-mail address, and other store-level information.
- Multiple Shipping Options
ShopSite Pro and Manager stores can now present shipping methods and rates from a ShopSite shipping option, UPS shipping, and (for Pro stores) a Custom Shipping Add-on simultaneously.
- Shipping Sort Order
Available shipping options can be displayed to shoppers sorted by cost within each shipping type, or all types sorted together by cost.
- Default Country
Merchants can specify a default country to be displayed at the top of the country pull-down list on the shopping cart screen.
- Custom Template Upload and Edit in ShopSite Manager
ShopSite Manager stores now have the ability to upload and edit custom page and product templates in the back office. This feature has been in ShopSite Pro stores since version 6.0.
- Additional UPS Ship-to Countries
More countries are available as UPS ship-to countries in ShopSite Pro and Manager stores.
- Additional MIME Types for Digital Downloads
The list of MIME types supported for digital download products in ShopSite Pro stores has been extended to cover most common text, zip, PDF, animation, video, and audio formats. Merchants can add more MIME types as needed.
- ShopSite for Windows Server Enhancements
ShopSite 6.2 includes several enhancements specifically for Windows Servers, including:
- Native build of ShopSite - The cygwin dll which emulated UNIX calls on Windows is no longer needed.
- Direct Mail Support - ShopSite no longer requires wsendmail for e-mail receipts.
- Uninstall - ShopSite can now be uninstalled from Windows.
- Windows 2000 Server and Windows XP Server Support - ShopSite has been optimized for Windows 2000 Server and Windows XP Server (when released by Microsoft).
- Easy Setup and Management - The ShopSite installation program now has options that make it easy to install and manage multiple installations of ShopSite.
New Features in ShopSite 6.1
- Customizable Coupon Codes
Merchants using ShopSite Pro can now specify an alternate code for each coupon.
The alternate codes can be easier for customers to remember and enter on the
shopping cart screen.
- Custom Shipping API
Third parties can create applications to provide real-time shipping quotes
to ShopSite Pro stores. ShopSite passes applicable order information
via the API and receives back shipping methods and charges from the shipping
program.
- Custom Template Enhancements
Custom templates have been enhanced to include several new capabilities:
- Subproducts
- Five new ShopSite Pro product fields that can contain additional information that does not fit into any of the predefined fields. These fields are also accessible via the Order API.
- Shipping box dimension field
- IF comparison tag
- Order Options tag
- Add multiple products to cart with a single add button
- Improved Inventory Checking
In addition to checking inventory availability when a product is first added to the shopping cart, availability is now also checked when other products are added to the cart, when the quantity ordered is changed, when the Recalculate button is pushed, and when the Check Out button is pushed.
- Fraud Protection
The IP address and host name that the shopper is coming from are included with the order information in ShopSite Pro and ShopSite Manager stores.
- Handling Charge
ShopSite Pro and ShopSite Manager stores can add handling charges to orders. Handling charges can include a base charge and/or be a function of the number of products, product subtotal, shipping charges, or shipping weight. Individual products can also have special handling charges.
- Dimensional Weight
Shipping box dimensions can be set for large products to accurately calculate dimensional weight shipping charges with UPS and the Shipping API.
- UPS Enhancements
UPS settings can be configured for either commercial or residential delivery, and for different pickup types, which helps to make shipping charge calculations more accurate.
- Order Download Enhancements
Downloaded order information now includes order weight, total item weight, box dimensions, and IP/Hostname fields. There is also an option to copy the billing address information into the shipping address fields if the customer indicated that they are the same address. This is useful with 3rd-party shipping programs such as UPS Worldship.
- QuickBooks Download Enhancements
The QuickBooks download information is configurable and includes more order information.
- Shipping and Billing Country Configuration
Merchants can now configure the list of shipping and billing countries, and have it appear as a drop-down list during the order process.
- Require a Selection in Order Options
Order Option menus can now require customers to make a selection, such as Small, Medium, Large, etc.
- Wildcards in Product Search
Basic Product Search can now be set to default to wild carding (e.g., searching for "ball" matches "baseball" and "balls."
- New Payment Processors
ShopSite now integrates with Cardservice International/Linkpoint Gateway and with SureFire Commerce Payment Processing, which includes both domestic and international support. Additionally, ShopSite integrates with Wells Fargo Secure source Payment Gateway via Authorize.Net.
- All Payment Processors in ShopSite Starter
ShopSite Starter now includes all payment processor gateways that are included in ShopSite Pro and ShopSite Manager (Cardservice International, SureFire, Authorize.Net, NPC, ECX, and Verisign).
- ShopSite Starter Autoresponder Removed
The autoresponder e-mail for information on getting a ShopSite Starter store
has been removed.
New Features in ShopSite 6.0
- UPS Shipping Integration
Merchants using ShopSite Pro and ShopSite Manager can now display actual
UPS shipping rates in the shopping cart. Merchants can enable specific
shipping methods and ShopSite will display the UPS rates for each of
those methods for the customer to choose from, based on the total weight
of the order.
- UPS Address Validation
Merchants using ShopSite Pro and ShopSite Manager can select to have U.S.
shipping addresses checked for consistency by UPS Address Validation.
This feature checks to make sure that the street address, city, state,
and zip code all match, helping to prevent problems at shipping time.
- Digital
Download Products
Merchants using ShopSite Pro can offer digital download products for
sale, as well as tangible products. Digital downloads are products
that can be downloaded over the Internet, such as software and documents.
After a customer pays for a digital download, ShopSite allows the customer
to access the files for download. The merchant can limit the amount
of time and the number of attempts that the customer has to download
the files.
- Digital Coupons
Merchants using ShopSite Pro can now create coupons that give discounts
in their stores. The coupons can apply to an entire order, to one product,
or to selected products. Coupons can be for a percentage off or a currency
amount off the price, and can have a minimum order requirement. The coupons
can be distributed as codes that customers enter in the shopping cart
or as URLs that automatically add the coupon to the cart when clicked.
- ZIP
Code-based Tax
ShopSite Pro and ShopSite Manager stores can calculate tax based on
customer ZIP/postal codes and a merchant-supplied rate table. The previous
merchant-defined tax table is still available.
- Opt-In E-Mail Marketing
Merchants can add a checkbox to the order form so that customers can request
to be added to the store's e-mail list. Merchants can then see which
customers have checked the box and add those customers to their e-mail
program. The checkbox can be checked or unchecked by default.
- Custom Template
Improvements
ShopSite Pro merchants can now upload and edit custom templates in
the back office. Additionally, a "numcolumns" parameter has been added to the "LOOP" tag
to support formatting output in HTML tables, variables can be defined,
and more product tags are available.
- Custom Page Subdirectories
Custom page files can now be placed in subdirectories underneath the smarthtml
directory. During a Publish operation, ShopSite will look in subdirectories
and process any files that it finds and copy the same directory structure
to the store output directory.
- OrderAnywhere by SKU
ShopSite OrderAnywhere links can now be generated based on products SKUs,
making it easier than ever to add a ShopSite shopping cart to an existing
website. By tracking SKUs, merchant can create OrderAnywhere links by
hand without having to generate them all within ShopSite. Store pages
with OrderAnywhere links can also be generated on-the-fly for database-driven
dynamic stores.
- New Payment Gateways
ShopSite now supports NPC and E-Commerce Exchange payment gateways in Pro,
Manager, and Starter. Both services make it possible for merchants to
accept and process real-time credit card payments.
- Page Preview
When building store pages, merchants using ShopSite Pro can now preview
pages before publishing them to the live store. If the page still needs
a little tweaking, the merchant can make changes and preview the page
again until it is satisfactory. Customers will not see the changes until
the store is published.
- Minimum Order Value
Merchants can set a minimum value requirement for orders to prevent tiny
orders from being placed. ShopSite will notify customers that an order
does not meet the requirement and invite them to order additional products.
- Faster
Store Generation
The code routines for publishing a store have been completely rewritten
in compiled code, making them much more efficient. Large stores can
now be completely regenerated much quicker.
- Improved Product Search
The product search feature for customers in ShopSite Pro stores has been
completely redone and is now more powerful and provides many more options.
Search has also been added for ShopSite Manager. Merchants can now configure
their stores to index product names, descriptions, and More Info page
text, and ShopSite Pro merchants can include SKUs and the text of Ordering
Option drop-down menus.
- Support for CVV2 Enhanced Credit Card Security
Merchants can require customers to enter CVV2 information when accepting
credit card orders, which can enhance fraud protection. The CVV2 number
is the additional 3 or 4 digits after the credit card number shown on
the back of most credit cards (the front of American Express
cards).
- Download Orders in QuickBooks Format
Order information can be downloaded from ShopSite Pro and ShopSite Manger
in a QuickBooks-compatible format. The resulting file can be imported
into QuickBooks and other programs that accept that format.
- Shopping Cart
Retention Period
Merchants can set the number of days that ShopSite will keep unfinished
shopping carts, which allows customers to return to the store and complete
their orders.
